GREEN ADVENTURE : 3 - 4.5h. 17 Miles
Leaving from the shop in Fisherman’s Wharf, bike around the nearest attractions: Pier 39, The Anchorage, the Cannery, Ghirardelli Square (the famous chocolate factory) and enjoy passing the other bikers pushing their regular bike up your first uphill. Admire the view of the Bridge and of Fort Mason, a former military post that you can visit and bike through Marina Green (74-acre expanse of grass), listen to the tides echoes at Wave Organ and have a little visit at the Palace of Fine Art (built in 1915 and now housing the Exploratorium : a science museum).
Ride along the beach side and all the way under the Bridge until you discover Fort Point (a fort built before the Civil War) where you might also see some surfers.
Venture through the Presidio ( a Spanish fortified location since 1776) , admire South Bay from the Vista Point and enjoy a memorable ride between the forest and the seaside.
Listen to the waves breaking on the Sea Cliff and China Beach and fly to Lincoln Park where you can visit the Legion of Honor (fine arts museum and memorial to Californian soldiers who died in WWI) and the Jewish Memorial. Honor the Men who died serving America at the USS SF Memorial check the Sutro Bath ruins and get dizzy at the Cliff House .
Enjoy a cup of hot coffee at the Beach Chalet and set off again to cross the astonishing Golden Gate Park (built in 1860 and larger than Central Park).
Have a fun stop at the Bison Playground and experiment a change of scene in the Japanese Tea Garden where you’ll be filled with serenity.
Admire some art masterpieces at DeYoung Museum , capture the panorsamic view from its tower and make some discoveries at the Academy of Science
Be elated with the delicious smell of the Botanical Garden and meet peace and love in the Hippie district of Height. Picture the famous Victorian style “painted ladies” in the elegant Alamo Square . Watch the nice panorama (and people exercising ) from Lyon Street Stairs and treat yourself with a sweet little Cupcake from Kara’s and be careful while going down the 8 hairpin turns of the famous Lombard Street .
